Society for human rights in Iran,
Southern California, urges Iranian
authorities to immediately halt
execution of Sarymeh Ebadi,
Sarymeh Ebadi, 30 and BoAli Johnfeshani,
32 are at imminent risk of stoning to
death after being convicted of
“adultery” in the city of Orumiyeh, West
Azerbaijan province. According to the
recent news, their sentences have been
approved by the province court on
January 6 (Day 16) without
representation by a lawyer. Despite the
moratorium imposed in 2002, stoning
sentences continued to be implemented in
Iran.
Iran's Penal Code prescribes execution
by stoning. It even dictates that the
stones are large enough to cause pain,
but not so large as to kill the victim
immediately. Article 102 of the Penal
Code states that men should be buried up
to their waists and women up to their
breasts for the purpose of execution by
stoning. Article 104 states, with
reference to the penalty for adultery,
that the stones used should "not be
large enough to kill the person by one
or two strikes; nor should they be so
small that they could not be defined as
stones".
Society for human rights in Iran,
Southern California, urges Iranian
authorities to immediately halt
execution of Sarymeh Ebadi, and BoAli
Johnfeshani by stoning. We also urge the
authorities to ensure that the
moratorium on stoning is implemented
immediately and effectively. We are
calling on Majlis to urgently reform the
law on stoning, and any new legislation
permits neither nor any other form of
execution for “adultery”

Iranians further
isolated by contacts ban
Amnesty International
fears the Iranian authorities are
implementing a programme that will
isolate Iranians from the outside world
after contact with more than 60 foreign
institutions, including human rights
organizations, was banned.
A statement issued by the
Iranian authorities on Tuesday also
designates as subversive a number of
foreign media outlets, thereby
criminalizing contacts with them.

Seminarium om inhumana förhållanden i
Iran
Makthavarna i Iran
trotsar många internationella regler och
fortsätter den systematiska kränkningen
av mänskliga rättigheter. Bland dessa
finner vi de flesta mänskliga
rättigheter som är fastställda i FN: s
olika deklarationer och inte minst i
andra internationella sammanhang.
Som ni vet är tortyr,
stening och avrättningar på offentliga
platser, några av vardagliga
inrikespolitiska fenomen som förekommer
i Iran. Detta har trappats upp efter
valet i juni 2009. Hundratals har blivit
mördade under fredliga protester efter
valet, antingen på gator och torg eller
under tortyr i fängelser. Många anhöriga
är fortfarande ovetande om vad som har
hänt med deras nära och kära eller var
de ens befinner sig.

Interrogation, jail and threatening in
the department of science ministry in
response to seeking the human right of
education
Committee of Human Rights
Reporters - Deprivation of education is
one of the discriminations which have
been applied to numerous levels of the
society in the past three decades
despite the explicit universal
declaration of human rights and
international civil and political rights
covenant. Navid KHanjani one of the
deprived university students, has been
participating in the university entrance
exam from 1384 to 1387 and every year
has been rejected due to a non
reasonable excuse and never been given
the result of exams. Hesam Misaghi,
student of Isfahan Sanai University in
English language translation, when he
was a freshman and just studied for two
terms, was fired in Tir-1386. These two
students, who like other Baha’i
believers have been deprived of
education, pleaded their human right of
education through official organizations
like committee of cultural reform,
science ministry, evaluation
organization and etc. These two students
after many times of pleading to numerous
organizations ultimately in Azar-1387
have been arrested, interrogated and
threatened in the department of science
ministry.

Deadly Fatwa: Iran's 1988 Prison
Massacre
This report
documents and analyzes the Iranian
government’s massacre of political
prisoners in 1988. Pursuant to a
fatwa issued by then-Supreme Leader
Ayatollah Khomeini, the government
systematically interrogated, tortured
and summarily executed thousands of
political prisoners. Many families were
never informed about the executions and
many of the victims were buried in
unmarked mass graves. The Iranian
government has never identified those
who were secretly executed and tortured,
and has never issued an explanation for
this crime.

Öppet brev till FNs generalsekreterare Ban
Ki-Moon
Makthavarna i Iran har trappat upp
våldet mot sitt folk. Massarresteringar
av studenter, journalister, tjänstemän,
jurister, advokater, Human Rights
aktivister och människor som
demonstrerar fredligt mot valresultatet
den 12 juni 2009 fortsätter. Blodet
flyter på gatorna, ropen ekar från
hustaken samtidigt som mänskliga
rättigheter kränks i allra högsta grad.
Detta är medborgarnas vardag i Iran just
nu. Hämnden mot människor som modigt och
öppet vågar stå upp för sina rättigheter
och protestera rasar blint och
hänsynslöst.
Herr Ban
Ki-Moon FNs generalsekreterare
Vi vädjar
till er att använda alla möjliga medel,
makt och befogenheter för att sända en
delegation till Iran som kan utreda och
stoppa alla incidenter och brott som
begås i medborgarnas dagliga liv från
makthavarnas sida.

A notoriously abusive
Iranian prosecutor, Saeed Mortazavi, has
been put in charge of the investigation
of detained reformist leaders and party
officials amidst a widening security
crackdown in Iran following the disputed
June 12 election, Human Rights Watch
said today. The role of Mortazavi, who
has been implicated in past cases of
torture, illegal detention, and coercion
of false confessions, came to light as
Iran's powerful security forces sought
to quell post-election protests that
have now continued for over a week.

Khamenei’s speech
gives legitimacy to police brutality
This
morning’s speech by Iran’s Supreme
Leader, Ayatollah Khamenei, indicates
the authorities’ readiness to launch
violent crackdowns if people continue to
protest which may cause a widespread
loss of life, Amnesty International said
today. “We are extremely disturbed at
statements made by Ayatollah Khamenei
which seem to give the green light to
security forces to violently handle
protesters exercising their right to
demonstrate and express their views,”
said Hassiba Hadj Sahraoui, Deputy
Director of the Middle East and North
Africa Programme. “If large numbers of
people take to the street in protests in
the next couple of days, we fear that
they will face arbitrary arrest and
excessive use of force, as has happened
in recent days, particularly as
permission for a demonstration to be
held in Tehran on Saturday 20 June has
been denied.”

Monthly
report of association of the Defense of
Azerbaijani Political prisoner in Iran (ADAPP)
Marsh 2009
As in previous months, March also saw Azerbaijani cultural activists under increasing pressure from Iranian security forces. Even though Article 27 of the Iranian Constitution states that any demonstration except those against Islam is allowed, the Azerbaijani activists charged with participating in peaceful demonstrations are sentenced to heavy jail terms. They are subjected to arbitrary detentions and are held in prisons without trial, without access to legal representation or to their families. During detention, security forces often coerce the detainees to confess to crimes they have not committed by means of torture or other abuse in order to ensure that heavy sentences will be imposed upon them.
